Hi, I’m Karyn, owner of Gympie Biomechanics. I am a qualified personal trainer and massage therapist. My passion is helping people move better, feel stronger, and live without pain.
My journey into Functional Patterns began when I discovered how deeply our posture, gait, and movement patterns affect every aspect of our health and performance. I’ve seen first hand how addressing the root causes—rather than just the symptoms—can completely transform how someone moves and feels.
Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply wanting to perform at your best, I’m here to guide you through a process that restores balance, efficiency, and confidence in how your body moves.

Jodie - from burn out to better health
When I first started working with Karyn, I was living with severe, all-over fibromyalgia pain and struggling to move. Every day felt like a battle just to get through basic tasks, and I relied on pain relief and anti-inflammatory medication to cope.
Since training with Karyn over the past three (going on four) years, I’ve experienced incredible changes in my body and overall wellbeing. I’ve been practicing Functional Patterns for almost two years. As someone who’s bandy/bow-legged, I used to deal with a lot of discomfort and pain—but that’s improved dramatically. My posture is more upright, my movements are more fluid and connected, and I feel a greater sense of calm and control. It’s truly been a game changer.
Cheyne- from wheelchair to walking
When I first started training with Karyn around three years ago, I was using a wheelchair and a four-wheel walker. I was living with chronic pain, extreme fatigue, and sleeping up to 16 hours a day. I couldn’t mobilize without assistance and was having multiple falls each week.
Since starting Functional Patterns, my life has completely changed. I no longer use a wheelchair, and I can move safely and independently with very few falls. I’m so much stronger in my body, I have more energy, and I’ve been able to reduce my pain medication. I’m sleeping less during the day and feeling more alive and connected than ever before.
Most importantly, I’ve reconnected with myself and rediscovered a sense of purpose in my life. I’m so grateful for Karyn and this work — it has truly given me my life back.
